ENDODONTICS
Endodontics is a branch of dentistry that deals with diseases of the dental pulp (living tissue containing vessels and nerves inside the tooth) and surrounding tissues and focuses on the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and pulp tissue injuries.
The aim of endodontics is to protect our patients’ natural teeth as much as possible and keep them in the mouth. In addition, we also provide emergency treatment for patients with severe pain and swelling.
In our clinic, root canal treatments are performed for teeth in which the dental pulp and surrounding tissues are damaged due to trauma, fracture, advanced caries and infection, as well as vital pulp treatments to maintain the vitality of the tooth and regeneration treatments aiming to create a new living tissue in the root.
The department where we provide services, staffed by a competent academic team, continues treatments in clinics equipped with advanced technology, utilizing digital radiography and dental operation microscopes. Additionally, when necessary, we use advanced imaging techniques with the “Dental Volumetric Tomography” available in our hospital to evaluate teeth and surrounding tissues in three dimensions.

Vital Pulp Treatments
The living ‘pulp’ tissue containing nerves and blood vessels inside the tooth can be damaged for various reasons (caries, trauma, gum disease, etc.). The process of removing this infected tissue with impaired circulation, cleaning and disinfecting the root canal cavity, which contains pulp and nerves in the tooth, and filling it with tissue-compatible materials is called ‘root canal treatment’. Endodontic treatment aims to maintain the function of the tooth in the mouth in terms of aesthetics and function.
Root canal treatment can be completed in a single session depending on the condition of the tooth, or two or more sessions may be needed to ensure adequate healing. Root canal treatment is performed under local anesthesia and there is no pain during the procedure. Sensitivity may be observed in the first few days after the treatment. This is because the healing process in the surrounding tissue around the root continues. In such cases, symptoms can be prevented with analgesics and/or anti-inflammatory drugs in line with your physician’s recommendation.
The lifespan of root canal treated teeth may vary depending on many factors. In endodontically treated teeth, the completion of the treatment under ideal conditions, the correct choice of upper restoration (filling, coating, etc.), oral care and general health status of the patient affect the long-term success. Accordingly, when appropriate conditions are provided, patients can use their root canal treated teeth for a very long time with regular dentist controls.
